Buffalo Hunting

Buffalo hunting has become one of the most popular exotic hunting experiences, and at MMK Outfitters we will make sure you have a fantastic Texas hunting experience and that you take home the trophy!

With a ranch in the Texas hill country that is reminiscent of Colorado’s terrain, we will give you an exciting hunt. When mature, the buffalo can stand between 6 and 7 feet tall, be about 10 feet long and weigh more than one ton; they can live to about 15 years old.

Buffalo hunting can be difficult, but our guides are experienced and resourceful. The animals can go run up to about 30 miles per hour and jump over four-foot-high obstacles, but we will ensure that you are successful.

Did you know a buffalo can produce about 250 pounds of boned-out meat? This will give you months of the delicious meat, which is often compared to very lean, high-quality beef.

Buffalo populations in the North American region totaled more than 60 million during the 1700s, but by the late 1800s, there were fewer than 1,000 and most were protected by ranchers in Texas. Today, however, there are more than 450,000 of the animals, with the highest concentration in West Texas – making buffalo hunting a popular sport.

Like many other exotics, there are no restrictions on when you can go buffalo hunting, which makes it a great trophy to acquire year round. And what a prize to hang on your wall! Our ranges are both high-fenced and free range, and we use the stand, spot and stalk, and safari-style methods.

Are you experienced in buffalo hunting? Will this shoot be your first time out? Do you fall somewhere in between? It does not matter to us. Our guides are experienced and can help you every step of the way in securing your trophy.

Although you will need to secure a hunting license prior to going buffalo hunting with us, it is easy to acquire at local sporting goods stores. The cost of the license is not included in our packages, but what is included are three meals a day (plus beverages and snacks), your guide, lodging with modern amenities, and trophy care – skinning, quartering, caping and delivery of your trophy to the taxidermist. If you need transportation to and from the airport, guns or ammunition, we can set all that up for you in advance.

Our lodging includes freshly made beds with linens, and private bathrooms. Many of our lodges have Internet access, phones and cable television, and if you need to do some work while you are here, some have a private office with a fax machine. There are also kitchens with utensils, and some lodges have pool and card tables, bars, dance floors, pools, hot tubs – even a golf course! Basically, they have everything you need to relax after a successful day of buffalo hunting.
