Texas Elk Hunting
Texas elk hunting can help you put a trophy on your wall that will give you bragging rights among your hunting friends. At MMK Outfitters, we will do everything in our power to help you get your prize and have a great time doing it.
Because there are no seasonal restrictions on Texas elk hunting, you can go on your hunt any time of the year. We use the stand hunting, spot and stalk, and safari-style methods – just like you would in Africa but without having to spend the time or money to get there! What more could you ask for when you want to hunt these exotic animals?
If you are a new hunter, an expert hunter or have experience that falls somewhere in between, we will do our best to help you take home your prize. With experienced, knowledgeable and professional guides, we aim to make sure you have the best Texas elk hunting experience possible.
These animals gather in herds and have a keen sense of hearing and sight. In fact, their eyes are designed to detect movement, even just a slight shift of grass. An elk’s eyes are on the sides of their skull, which means they can see what is going on ahead of and beside them, and even what can be going on behind them. Their ears twist forward and back to hear any movement, as well, and they have an incredible sense of smell. All of these senses can make your Texas elk hunting experience a challenge, but don’t worry – we are ready to help you every step of the way.
Elk can typically yield about 300 pounds of meat when they are processed. That will last you a long time, and by the time you eat this delicious meat, you will be ready for your next elk hunting expedition!
But you can get more out of your Texas elk hunting experience than just the meat. Did you know their hide can be used to make gloves, coats and chaps? And aside from mounting them on the wall to show off, the antlers can be used to make belt buckles, knife handles and even chandeliers. Rings, bracelets and key chains can also be adorned with ivories.
These creatures are related to dear, but are much larger than most of their relatives. A male elk, or bull, can have antlers that may reach 4 feet above its head, making the animal tower about 9 feet tall! What a prize!
We offer a package deal for your Texas elk hunting experience. This includes three meals a day plus snacks and drinks, lodging with many modern amenities, your guide, and trophy care – skinning, quartering, caping and delivery of your trophy to the taxidermist. If transportation to and from the airport, guns or ammunition are needed, those arrangements can be made prior to your arrival. Packages, however, do not include your hunting license, which can be obtained at any sporting goods store in the state.
